Freightliner Trucks Donates Cascadia to US Veterans Hall of Fame
CLEVELAND, N.C. — Freightliner Trucks, a brand of Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA), announced that it has donated a Freightliner Cascadia to the US Veterans Hall of Fame, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting military veterans and their families. This donation was aimed at enhancing the nonprofit’s logistics capacity, allowing it to more effectively assist communities in need during disasters.
The donation will support the Veterans Emergency Response Unit, a disaster relief team founded in 2012 and now operating in partnership with the US Veterans Hall of Fame. The response unit has played a critical role in responding to numerous natural disasters since Hurricane Sandy. Their mission is to deliver essential supplies, provide relief, and offer assistance to disaster victims with professionalism and care.
The Freightliner Cascadia being donated from Daimler Truck North America's Cleveland plant, marks the first contribution from Cleveland's Ride of Pride, which has honored veterans and active-duty service members since 2002. The Ride of Pride program has since grown to include more than 40 trucks, each serving as a tribute to those who have served in the United States military. Initiated after the September 11 attacks, the program aims to recognize and show support for veterans and active-duty military members. These veteran-themed trucks participate in the Ride to the Wall in Washington, D.C., paying tribute to veterans and active-duty personnel.
“We are proud to donate this Freightliner Cascadia to support the essential work of the US Veterans Hall of Fame,” said Greg Treinen, vice president of on-highway market development, Daimler Truck North America. “This truck will help deliver life-saving aid to communities affected by disasters while honoring the sacrifices made by our military veterans. It’s a powerful reminder of the dedication of both our military personnel and the organizations working to support them.”
"We cannot thank the Daimler Truck North America team enough for this wonderful contribution. This is what national partnership and community building look like,” said Curtis Drafton, executive director of the US Veterans Hall of Fame. “When synergetic missions come together, goals are accomplished faster, and communities are healed more thoroughly. America is better off because of this union and we look forward to expanding operations with this unit in the future."
The donated truck was also showcased at the National Annual Induction Ceremony on November 16 in Hampton, Virginia, an event that celebrated veterans and their contributions to the nation.
