Daimler Truck North America Recognized with Oregon Visionary Award

PORTLAND, Ore. (Oct. 23, 2025) — Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA) received the Oregon Visionary Award at the annual Vision Oregon Event hosted by Oregon Business & Industry (OBI). The event, held at the Portland Art Museum on October 22, celebrated innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic leadership across the state.

The Oregon Visionary Award recognizes individuals and organizations that make a lasting impact on the state’s economy and communities. Recipients are celebrated for bringing people together to address challenges with practical solutions and a focus on long-term progress.

As the largest heavy-duty truck manufacturer in North America and with a long history in the state, DTNA was recognized for its many contributions to Oregon’s industrial landscape, pioneering work in transportation, and continued investment in innovation and workforce development.

“As a company with over 80 years of history in Oregon, we know that progress starts with bold ideas and a commitment to investing in our people and communities. This award isn’t just a recognition of what we’ve accomplished; it’s a challenge to keep going, to keep innovating, and to keep collaborating,” said John O’Leary, president and CEO of Daimler Truck North America.

With over 3,000 employees in Oregon and nearly 20,000 nationwide, DTNA continues to invest in the state’s future through electric and advanced diesel truck production, sustainable infrastructure, and engineering innovation. Highlights include its LEED-certified headquarters on Swan Island, the adjacent Electric Island – North America’s first of its kind commercial truck charging station – and a new test facility currently under construction, all reflecting DTNA’s long-term commitment to advanced transportation technologies.

DTNA’s Portland plant manufactures both electric Freightliner Cascadia trucks and Western Star X-Series models, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of Oregon’s industrial economy and a catalyst for sustainable growth.

The company’s continued investment in future technologies, engineering excellence, and purpose-built vehicles demonstrates not only a legacy of innovation, but also a deep commitment to its people, whose talent, dedication, and expertise are driving a clear vision for the future of commercial transportation.
